Objective
To conceptualize and design a unique, illustrative blister pack for an existing art toy. I chose the iconic KAWS COMPANION figure in its vibrant pink colorway as the centerpiece for this visual reinterpretation.
Target Audience
Designed for urban art collectors and “art toy” enthusiasts, specifically targeting a trend-conscious demographic between 19 and 30 years old.
Process
This project was a one-month creative deep dive. The primary inspiration came from the toy’s own “dissected” anatomy, which sparked a vision of a digital radiography.
I explored the concept: What would this figure look like under a futuristic X-ray? This led me to implement a 2000s techno-aesthetic, layering the design with a glitchy, Matrix-inspired code effect. Except for the product photography, the entire packaging was meticulously illustrated and constructed in Adobe Illustrator.
Results
The final blister pack acts as a visual extension of the toy, ensuring it commands attention on any shelf. By using a curated color palette that harmonizes with the original product, the packaging transcends its functional purpose to become a collector’s piece in its own right—the perfect companion to the toy.
